Thought Bubble was established in 2003 by Nyree McKenzie who has a passion for strategic thinking and writing in all formats and a desire to contribute to the ever growing, changing and dynamic field of professional services.
With a commitment to teamwork, flexibility, organisation, a solid knowledge of capture / proposal planning and a do-what-ever-it-takes-attitude, Thought Bubble has established itself as a core member of executive and business development teams providing proposal management and strategic communication services. Today, Thought Bubble’s expertise ranges from leading and managing all aspects of proposal efforts (from inception to delivery) to creative services, technical and content marketing including multi-channel communication that address clients’ issues and interests.

Nyree has 25 years experience helping organisations in the health/human services, tertiary education, legal, technology, infrastructure development, mining/resources, environmental management and Defence sectors engage more effectively with their clients, partners, employees and stakeholders. Since establishing Thought Bubble in 2003 Nyree has focused on supporting executive management and business development professionals with marketing and communications programs, including managing the strategic proposals and bids function, to differentiate and position them for growth. Having led marketing and business development teams across a variety of disciplines, Nyree has successfully secured billions of dollars worth of contracts and helped strategically position companies in ‘top’ rankings (by profit per partner, by market share, by brand and reputational ranking) as a precursor for market expansion, alliance or M&A activity. As a member of the executive “growth team”, Nyree is also engaged by CEOs and Boards to drive the executive leadership team’s review of processes to strengthen alignment with contemporary market and business practices.
Nyree holds a Bachelor of Business (Public Relations) and a Master of Business (Marketing) from Queensland University of Technology for which she was awarded the Dean’s Award for Excellence and she is also a trained RAAF Specialist Reserve (RAAFSR) in the field of operational public affairs. She has been awarded several Stevie Awards (Gold and Silver) in the Business Development Executive, Company and Women in Business categories, and is a former recipient of a St.George Bank Fostering Executive Women International Scholarship to attend Harvard Business School’s Leading Professional Services Firms program.
New entrepreneurial journey
In March 2017 Nyree completed the MIT Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in New Ventures Leadership (her team came second overall). Shortly afterwards she received a Lord Mayor’s Budding Entrepreneurship Program grant for Bidhive, an early stage start-up SaaS Bid Management Platform for high volume and frequent responders to complex and routine RFT and RFPs. Nyree went on to be accepted into the 12 week CUA-sponsored entrepreneur’s program, with Bidhive then being accepted by the 6-month River City Labs Accelerator Program. Bidhive is now in early commercialisation, thanks to funding from the accelerator and the Queensland Government’s Ignite Ideas program.
